Thomas Greer Selected as a 2023 Memphis Bar Foundation Fellow

Bailey & Greer, PLLC is proud to announce that partner Thomas R. Greer has been invited to join the Memphis Bar Foundation Fellows for 2023. This is a tremendous honor, as only about 1% of all attorneys in Memphis will be invited to join.

This year’s reception was held at The University Club of Memphis, and sponsored by Hobson Realtors, on April 27, 2023.

What is the Memphis Bar Foundation?

The Memphis Bar Foundation is a charitable organization which serves as the “philanthropic arm of the Memphis Bar Association.” There are four key tenets to the Foundation’s mission:

  • Promote philanthropy among members of the Memphis Bar Association
  • Advocate and support public awareness of the legal system
  • Promote social justice and legal education
  • Encourage and recognize professionalism among members of the Memphis Bar Association

The organization also awards annual grants to non-profit organizations for law-related projects that will help bolster this mission.

What is a Memphis Bar Foundation Fellow?

Fellows are nominated each year; both attorneys and judges may be considered for nomination. Per the Memphis Bar Association, “nominees are chosen based on their devoted and distinguished service to the legal profession and the administration of justice and their adherence to the highest standards of professional ethics and personal conduct.”

Fellows also help support the grants awarded by the Memphis Bar Foundation.

Fellowship is by invitation only. Thomas Greer is one of only 47 attorneys and judges in Memphis to be selected for inclusion in 2023.

About Thomas R. Greer

Thomas R. Greer has been practicing personal injury law for nearly 20 years and has established a national reputation for his work on behalf of plaintiffs. He was invited to join the American Board of Trial Advocates (2015), and was named Outstanding Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association (2020). He is the Past President and Past Vice President of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association and has served on multiple committees as well as its Board of Governors. He has also served on the Board of Governors for the American Association for Justice and was named to The National Trial Lawyers: Top 40 Under 40 (2012).

Thomas is also a fierce litigator. He takes numerous cases to trial each year, fighting to ensure that his clients’ futures will be safe and secure. Over his career, he has secured millions of dollars on behalf of the injured and worked to make the community a safer place for everyone.

The Memphis Bar Foundation is, at heart, about giving back, so it makes sense to us that Thomas would be a good fit. Along with his work on behalf of the legal community, he also engages in civic projects on behalf of the Memphis Community. He’s given multiple presentations on behalf of End Distracted Driving and serves as a mentor to graduating high school students applying for the TN Promise Scholarship. During the pandemic, Thomas started a free food pantry to help community members in need. When he wins a case or secures an award, he donates a portion of his fees to local charities in the name of his clients. With the assistance of Bailey & Greer, PLLC, Thomas has stuffed backpacks for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Memphis and participated in the Memphis Bar Association’s Summer Law Internship Program.

Thomas believes in giving his all to every case he takes on. The son of a lawyer and the grandson of a judge, Thomas grew up immersed in a family where accountability, responsibility, and compassion were virtues worth striving for. Whether it’s arguing a case in state or federal court, or spending family time with his wife and children (mostly driving his daughters to and from ballet, tennis, and birthday parties, these days) he is always fully present. It’s one of the many reasons Thomas is an extraordinary person and attorney.

Congratulations, Thomas, on being selected as a Fellow for the Memphis Bar Foundation!
