Lawsuit Filed Against Memphis 24 Hour Fitness Club
Jerome Walsh filed a lawsuit on July 18, 2013, against 24 Hour Fitness. Walsh contracted Legionnaires' disease at the Memphis fitness club located on Ridgeway Road. Legionnaires' disease is a bacterial infection named for the bacteria Legionella. The bacteria can lead to pneumonia. If undetected and untreated, the disease can turn deadly. Legionella thrives in warm water and can appear when water systems are not properly maintained. Similar outbreaks have occurred in hospitals, hotels, and cruise ships.
