Four Dead, One Critical in Memphis Christmas Eve Crash

Posted on Jan 03, 2012

A tragic Christmas Eve car accident resulted in four deaths, one critical injury and drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter charges. Lenard Robinson, 38, was arrested after striking a 2002 Chevy Impala from behind with his pickup truck, killing all four women in the car.

The collision occurred on Raleigh-Millington Road at the Loosahatchie River Bridge.  According to reports, Robinson was traveling south when he struck the rear end of the Impala. The driver, Tarla Fisher, 47; her sister Shirley Watkins, 44; their niece, Chrystal Hill, 26; and friend, Marjorie Tucker, 42 were all pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Apparently, when Robinson hit the Impala, it swerved into the northbound lane and was struck by an oncoming Ford 150, driven by James Reece. His passenger, Luke McElravey was stable, but Reece was listed in critical condition.

The 6:00 p.m. accident caused the Raleigh-Millington Road to be closed, and the bridge was damaged. The road was open again Sunday morning.

Robinson was charged with four counts of vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, speeding, felony reckless endangerment and reckless driving when arrested Saturday night.

The Memphis car accident attorneys at Bailey & Greer extend their sympathies to all the family members and friends of the deceased.
